Carl Messner Obituary, Death Cause – St. Joseph’s Hospital was the place where Carl “Skip” A. Messner, who was 85 years old and from Brecknock Township, passed away on August 28, 2016. He was a resident of Brecknock Township. The marriage to Mary J. (Rebhan) Messner lasted for 34 years, and he was a loyal husband to his wife throughout that time. His parents, Carl B. Messner, who had gone away, and Violet (Gehring) Messner, to whom he was born in Reading, were his parents. He was their son. The year 1948 was the year that he graduated from Reading High School with his diploma.
Carl was a combat veteran who had been in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had served during that conflict. In the year 1991, he decided to retire from the Metropolitan Edison Company, where he had been employed as a civil engineer for the preceding 35 years. a.Carl was considered to be an active member of the congregation at the Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church where he attended services in Mohnton. Two further organizations that he was a member of were the Shin Hollow Rod and Gun Club and the Reading Water Skiers.

He was a member of both of these groups. Carl was a devoted outdoorsman who took pleasure in activities such as fishing and hunting. Every moment that he was able to spend with his family, his grandchildren, and his dogs, Casey and Max, was something that he treasured. His favorite things to do included going to Chincoteague, Virginia, working out at Flying Hills Fitness Center, taking care of his yard and pond, and watching Phillies and Eagles games. He also enjoyed going to Chincoteague.

Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Carl will miss him because, in addition to being a beautiful, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was also a dedicated and faithful grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Karyn L. Alam, who resides in Centreville, Virginia, and Jill D. Hawk, who resides in Temple; three step-children: Faith A., who is married to Michael Libbe and lives in Orlando, Florida.

Alfred R., who is married to Annalisa Jordan and lives in Shillington; and William F., who is married to Lisa Jordan and lives in Harrisburg two grandchildren Zachary J. Alam and Omar C. Alam; and four step-grandchildren: Amy Jordan, Torey Jordan, Jonathan Jordan, and Emily Jordan. Kelly Clower is the only niece and two nephews, Daniel Richards and Gary Richards, who are still living today. There are also two nephews, Daniel Richards and Gary Richards.
